I'll Always Be There - 6

Chapter Twenty-Five

        Lucky drove hurriedly to the cabin, not even able to enjoy driving
Nikolas car. He got to the cabin and quickly ran to his own car. He hopped
in and turned right around and went back to town. He went to Alexis'
apartment and went over to the front desk. "Hello, I'm here to pick up a
trunk for Mrs. Cassadine," he said to the man behind the desk. "My name is
Lucky Spencer."

        The man handed him a clipboard, and said, "Sign right here,"
pointing to a line at the bottom of the page. Lucky signed the paper. The
man then gave him the trunk and sent a bellboy with him to help him get the
trunk into his car. He drove to the docks and looked at his watch. He was
pleased to see that he had made it in under an hour. He was in plenty of
time. He parked and dragged the trunk over and onto Helena's yacht. Ari let
him aboard. "Madame will be pleased. You got here very quickly." He
directed Lucky into the yacht's livingroom.

        Helena was waiting for him. "Ah, Lucky, You're early. I like that
in an employee. Bring the trunk over here." He pulled at it until he had it
in front of her. "I guess that it is time that you had you're reward, don't
you think?" She opened the trunk and took out a folder that was laying
close to the top. "Here you go," she said handing it to him.

        "What's this?" Lucky said, opening the folder. His eyes widened as
he read the papers within. "Does this mean...?"

        "Yes, Lucky, your mother lied to you, yet again. Not only did she
hide the fact that she had another son, she hid the fact that his real
father wasn't Stavros,...It was Stefan."

        "No!" he said in denial of the facts that were staring him in the
face. "You're lying! These have to be fake!"

        "Oh, no Lucky. You are the one that is lying, to yourself. These
papers show that Stefan is Nikolas' father. That is the truth. When your
mother told you that Nikolas' father had attacked her, that was a lie. As
far as I know, Stefan was always gentle with her. Stavros on the other
hand, well lets just say, he was less than caring towards your mother."

        Lucky's jaw clenched. He could barely control his anger. He
couldn't believe this. He had expected a lot of things, but this? He didn't
know what to say. "I gotta go. Thanks, ah, thanks for the info." He turned
to leave.

        "I hope that in the future you will bring the charming Miss. Webber
with you. I'd like to meet the young lady that has taken such a place in
your heart."

        This was one thing he would not stand for. No one would threaten
Lizzie and get away with it. He was overcome by anger and gave no real
thoughts to the consequences of his actions. Lucky turned to face Helena,
the look in his eyes even more telling then his words. They showed his
complete hatred of this woman, but more than that, even as he threatened a
woman who had killed more people than he could imagine, his eyes showed no
fear. "IF you EVER, EVER, hurt Elizabeth, there is nothing in the world
that could save you from me! I would find you and I WOULD kill you. Do you
understand!? It would make no difference to me what consequences I would
face. I wouldn't even care if I was killed in the process. I would get to
you first, or someone else would, cause you know that my dad has
connections. I'll advice you on this point. Lizzie is one card you DON'T
want to use, because it is the one that would kill YOU!" With that he left
taking the papers on Stefan with him.

        Helena watched him go. The brat had the audacity to threaten her!
HER! He was very good at it though. Of all the threats she had gotten over
the course of her life this one was close to the top of those that had had
any affect on her at all, because there had been nothing in his eyes but
hatred, and love for Elizabeth. No hesitation, no fear, just hate...and
truth. When he said he would kill her he spoke the absolute truth. If she
killed Elizabeth, he would do anything and everything in his power to kill
her. Not only that, to kill Elizabeth would be to kill Lucky, and she knew
better than anyone that a walking dead man was far more dangerous than
person who merely hated. The person with who has nothing to live for is the
person who it is hardest to kill. Though it had an affect on her, it was
far from frightening to her. It simply made the game more interesting.
"Well, well," she thought to herself. "Elizabeth Webber, you and I simply
MUST meet!" She smiled wickedly.

        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        Lucky drove to Emily's house wondering just how big of a mistake he
had just made. "Oh well," he thought to himself. "At least all the cards
are on the table, well almost." He looked at the folder next to him as he
pulled to a stop in front of the Quartermaine Mansion. He grabbed the
folder and hurried up to the door. He rang the doorbell and the door was
again opened by Reginald. "Hey Reggie," Lucky said. "Are they still
upstairs?"
        "Yes, Lucky." Reginald said. "Emily told me to send you right up
when you got back."
        "Thanks," Lucky said as he practically ran up the stairs. He
knocked on Emily's door, which was opened shortly by Emily.
        "Lucky, what's wrong?" she said almost immediately, worried at the
look on his face.
        "I need to talk to Nikolas," he said. "Alone, please, Emily."
        Nikolas had explained to her what was going on between him and
Lucky so she said, "Sure," without hesitation. She gestured to Elizabeth
who followed her out of the room, pausing only to give Lucky's hand a
reassuring squeeze, which was rewarded by a quick smile. She shut the door
behind them and Lucky and Nikolas were alone.
        "What is it, Lucky," Nikolas said. The last time he had seen Lucky
like this was, well, when he had found out about his father.
        "Nikolas," Lucky said slowly. "If there was a secret that I knew
about your father, would you want to know it, regardless of what it was and
how much it would hurt you?"
        "Why?" Nikolas said apprehensively.
        "Helena told me something, and I know that the purpose behind it
was probably for me to tell you, and for it to drive a wedge between you
and your uncle. I don't know if it's true, but she did have papers that
backed it up," he said holding up the file that Helena had given him. "Let
me tell you this man, I'm not too happy about this information myself."
        "Lucky, what is it!?"
        "I'm not sure if I should tell you. We both know that it's
dangerous to give Helena what she wants. If I tell you this, and it's true,
well then I'm almost sure that you'd have as hard a time forgiving your
uncle, as I've had trying to forgive my father."
        "Lucky, just spit it out."
        "Okay, but first promise me that when you confront your uncle... I
go with you."
        "Lucky," Nikolas said.
        "No, it involves my family too. Besides if you try and kill him, I
want to be there to cheer you on..."
        "Lucky," Nikolas said, just wanting him to get this over with. He
could barely stand the suspense.
        "Or pull you off depending on how I feel at the moment," Lucky
continued.
        "LUCKY!!," Nikolas said grabbing him by the front of his shirt and
giving him a little shake. "TELL ME WHAT SHE TOLD YOU!!!"
        Lucky bit his lip, and started off slow. "You know all that stuff
you told me, you know, about your father not raping our mother?"
        "Yeah," Nikolas said warily, letting go of Lucky.
        "Well, it didn't mean quite what you thought it did. Stavros did
rape our mother. As a matter of fact, Helena seemed quite proud of the
fact."
        "But uncle said..."
        "That's the part you didn't get quite right. You referred to
Stavros as your father...when according to Helena...he's your uncle!" Lucky
could barely say the words.
        "What!!" Nikolas said, in total disbelief.
        "According to the paternity tests that Helena showed me...Stefan is
your father. Now I don't know if it's true, remember that Nikolas. Helena
lies. Don't believe this until you get it from another source. That's
something that I've learned pretty well, don't trust anything that anyone
tells you. Oh and don't think that Helena is any better than your uncle,
because she told you now. According to the date one those tests, she's
known since a month after you were born. Don't give her any credit for
telling the truth, 'cause we both know that she just saved it in order to
use it when it would hurt the most. She's making her move Nikolas. What are
we going to do about it?"
        "Well first, I'm going to see my uncle." Nikolas said, furious at
the man that had raised him.
        "Is that really a good idea?" Lucky questioned.
        "I want answers," Nikolas said, through gritted teeth.
        "Well so do I," Lucky said. "But think carefully what source you
want them from."
        "What are you saying, Lucky?"
        "I say we go see, Mom. Somehow, I feel that this was her final
secret, and as far as I can see, she's the most likely one to tell us the
truth."
        "You're right. Let's leave as soon as possible." They looked at
each other, two boys once separated by hatred, now united in a search for
the truth.
        "It's time for all the secret's to come out," Lucky said. "We end
this together!"
Chapter Twenty-Six
        "How soon can you be ready?" Nikolas asked Lucky.
        "A couple of hours, I guess. How about you?"
        "I'm pretty much ready." Nikolas said. "I'm already packed since I
moved out of Wyndemere. I'll have the jet fueled and we'll leave in two
hours."
        "The jet?" Lucky said. "Why don't you just take an add out,
"Nikolas Cassadine is on his Way To North Carolina." We should drive. They
won't even know that we're gone for at least a couple of hours, and it
might take them even longer to find out where we're going. If we use the
jet they'll know before we leave."
        Nikolas looked a little embarrassed. "I guess so. I just want to
get there as soon as possible."
        "I know but we have to do this quietly. How long do you think we'll
be gone?"
        "I don't know. A couple of days probably. Why?"
        "It's just that, well, I don't want to leave Lizzie for too long
right now. I promised I wouldn't leave her, and she needs me now more than
ever...and I need her. Not only that but now that I know that Helena knows
about her, I really don't want to leave her alone."
        "Well, if she wants to come it's okay with me, but do you think it
would be a good idea to just take off? We'd probably have to tell Audrey,
seeing how much she must worry about Liz and that would give them a hint
where we're going."
        "Well, let's talk to her about it and see what she wants to do,
however if she doesn't want to come, I think I'm going to try and convince
her. Helena scared me today, and I don't want her anywhere near Lizzie."
        "Okay," Nikolas said heading for the door.
        "Nikolas, wait."
        "Yeah, Lucky," Nikolas said turning to face Lucky again.
        "How much do you want to tell them? I tell Lizzie everything, but
how much do you want Emily to know?"
        "I think that we can trust them with everything. Are you going to
tell Lizzie about Helena?"
        "Yeah. No secrets." Nikolas and Lucky left the room to go find
Emily and Lizzie, and the came across them in the livingroom. "Hey guys,"
Lucky said. "We have to talk to you about something."
        "What we are going to tell you must remain between the four of us,"
Nikolas said. "Em, can we talk here without anyone hearing us?"
        "Not for sure," Emily said. "Let's go back up to my room. We should
be pretty safe there." They left the living room and headed back up the
stairs and into Emily's room. "What's up?"
        Lucky shut the door behind him.  "Em, I don't know if Nikolas told
you this," he looked at Nikolas, who shook his head. "But I've been working
for...Helena Cassadine." Emily let out a small gasp. "The reason I started
working for her is that Nikolas passed a little information my way about my
dad's past." Emily looked at Nikolas and noticed the guilt and remorse in
his face and knew that whatever the information was, it wasn't good. "He
told me that a long time ago, when my mom was married to Scott
Baldwin,...my dad raped my mom."
        "But..." Emily said shocked.
        "I know, just let me finish please." Lizzie grabbed ahold of his
hand and he looked gratefully at her. "I decided that working for Helena
would give me access to secrets about my family. Thing that I felt I needed
to know. Today, Helena passed one of those secrets along to me."
        "What did she tell you?" Emily asked, almost scared of the answer.
        "She told him that Stefan Cassadine is my father," Nikolas said.
"And from the looks of things, she's always known."
        "Oh, God!" Emily said. No wonder they both looked so upset. "Is it
true?"
        "We have no idea." Lucky said. "After all it was Helena that told
us, and she can tell lies within lies without breaking a sweat."
        "What are you going to do?" Lizzie asked.
        "We're going to drive to North Carolina to see Mom," Lucky said.
"We leave in about two hours."
        "Oh!" Lizzie said. He was leaving now? She knew he had to do this,
but she needed him *so* much right now.
        Lucky noticed that the uncertainty in her face. "I'd like you to
come," he said. "That is, if you want to. I don't think that it would be a
good idea to tell anyone, so Audrey would worry, but we'd call her and let
her know you're okay."
        "I want to Lucky, but I don't want Gram to worry." Lizzie said. She
was thrilled that he had asked her, but she didn't want to scare Audrey.
        "Lizzie, I don't know how to tell you this, but I think you had
better come. I messed up...and Helena knows who you are and how important
you are to me. Not only that, but I think that she knows about the rape as
well. If I'm not here, well, then I don't want you to be here either.
Thanks to me, it's way to dangerous. If you're with me, then at least I'll
know you're safe."
        "Lucky, I want to come with you, and as long as I can call Gram
somewhere along the way, well that's enough for me. I'll deal with the
consequences when I get back. I would like to call Det. Garcia or V though,
to let them know that I'll be out of town for a while."
        "Sure, we can even give them a number to reach us at if there's an
emergency dealing with the case."
        "Okay, then I'm in."
        "Well, since the rest of us are going, how about you, Emily? I'm
sure your family is driving you crazy by now," Lucky said. "You up for a
little excitement? On the run from the Cassadine's, the Spencer's and the
Quartermaine's? We'll only be gone for a few days."
        "I'm in. My family thinks that I need twenty-four hour supervision
since last night. I'm sure Reginald was left with instructions not to let
me out of the house."
        "That's no problem, but Jason's guard is."
        "Ah, that's right. Jason told me that he put a guard on me when he
stopped by this morning. How do we get around that?"
        "Well, first we need to come up with a plan. To start I think the
best thing is to  leave here in plain sight. You should pack a bag with
enough cloths for a couple of days and drop it out of the window. We'll
pick it up after we walk out of here. We'll tell Reggie, or your parents,
if they're here, that we're going out for a while. You should pack some of
your stuff in a small bag and we'll bring that one down with us. We'll tell
them that you're sleeping over at Lizzie's. Then we'll go to Lizzie's and
tell Audrey that Liz is going to spend the night here. That'll cover your
families. Then, we go to the cabin and get my stuff and maybe while we're
out there we can spot the guy that Jason has on you. We'll get all ready
and then figure out what to do about the guard. All of us should think
about it and try and come up with a plan."
        "Sounds like a start," Emily said and she quickly packed the two
bags. They  dropped the bigger one out  the window, and Emily brought the
smaller one with her as they headed downstairs. They had just reached the
bottom of the stairs when the hurricane Quartermaine entered the door. They
were all hollering and complaining about the trial.
        "What is it," Emily hollered trying to be heard over them. "What
happened at the trial?"
        "He got off with nothing but community service," Monica said. "And
Carly shot him."
        "What!?"
        "He's alive, but they arrested Carly. I can't believe that they let
Tony off with nothing but community service," AJ said.
        "It's all that Alexis Davis' fault." Edward said. "Ned, you were
right about that woman. She will rue the day that she stabbed this family
in the back."
        "Even I didn't think she'd do this," Ned said. "I can't even
imagine why she'd want to do this. One thing I do know is that she will pay
for getting Tony off."
        "Sheesh, Ned get a clue." Lucky said sarcastically. "It's not like
she's defending Tony for her health,...well actually, now that I think
about it, I take that back. That's exactly why she took the case."
        "Meaning?" Ned said, curious as to just what Lucky knew that HE didn't.
        "Well, let's just say that Helena took an interest in the case and
basically told Alexis to take the case or she'd slit her throat, or
something along those lines. Not to mention that she probably threatened
anyone outside of the 'family' that Alexis is close to, just to be sure
that she did what Helena asked."
        "Why would Helena want to kill Alexis?" Ned said shocked at this
new information.
        "I don't know why she wants to kill her," Lucky said giving Nikolas
a look to keep him quiet. He knew that if Alexis hadn't told them, it was
for a reason. "But since when does the old bat need a reason? She'd kill
you for saying that the grass is green if she thought it was looking a
little brown on that particular day. You'll just have to ask Alexis."
        "And just how do you know all this young man?" Edward asked. "We
had her in our employ and we weren't aware of any connection to Helena."
        "Come on, Mr. Quartermaine," Lucky said. "I'm a Spencer, and
everyone knows that we try to keep up on things like this. Alexis is a
Cassadine, therefore she's worth keeping track of."
        "Mom, Dad," Emily said, wanting to end this conversation. "We're
going to go out and do something fun, to take our minds off what's been
happening. Then I'd like to spend the night at Lizzie's, if that's okay?"
        "It's fine with me," Monica said. Alan nodded.
        "Thanks," Emily said. "And I'll call you before tonight okay? I
know you worry."
        "Thanks, dear." Monica said, hearing the implied 'don't call me
fifty times tonight,' in that statement. "We'll wait for your call, and
none of us will call, right, everyone?"
        "Yes," the family agreed, anything to keep Emily happy.
        The four of them decided to make their escape when the getting was
good. They hurried out of the house hollering their goodbyes. As the door
shut behind them, they heard the Q's erupt yet again into an argument about
Tony's acquittal and the fact that Carly had shot him. Emily shook her
head, "Sometimes I just don't know about them," she said as they headed for
the car.
        Lucky ran quickly around the edge of the building and grabbed
Emily's other bag. They all got into the car, Lucky and Lizzie in front and
Nikolas and Emily in back. Lucky started the car and they headed to
Lizzie's house.
        "Emily, how do you stand all that hollering?" Lizzie asked. "I
swear that they'd drive me crazy."
        "Oh, they do drive me crazy, but I know that most of it's driven by
love so I try and let a lot of it slide."
Chapter Twenty- Seven
        Before long they pulled up in front of Lizzie's house. "We'll go
case the joint," Lizzie said, winking at Nikolas. "We'll give you a signal
if it's safe to come in."
        Nikolas laughed as Lizzie and Lucky jumped out of the car and
headed for the house.
        "What's she talking about?" Emily said curious.
        "She's going to check and see if Sarah's home. Ever since we broke
up she's practically been stalking me. I don't want to see her any more
than I have to."
        "Oh," Emily said. The world seemed to really be turning upside down
right now. Elizabeth was raped and she was attacked, both by their high
school English teacher. Lucky was on the out's with his father and warming
up to Nikolas. Sarah had become a stalker. Tony Jones had gone psycho and
stolen Michael then gotten off with a mere slap on the wrist. This had
caused Carly to shoot him, and now SHE was in jail. Stefan was Nikolas'
father and Helena was threatening everyone in sight. Not to mention that
here she was about to take off without her parents knowledge, to go to
North Carolina with three other teenagers. What would happen next?
        "She's waving," Nikolas said.
        "Huh," Emily said, still lost in her thought's.
        "Lizzie's waving. I think that it's okay for us to go in."
        "Oh, okay," Emily said. They got out of the car and headed to the
house. Elizabeth held the door open for them.
        "Gram's in the kitchen, but Sarah went...somewhere." Lizzie said.
"She's okay with me staying over at your house," she said in case Audrey
could hear them. "As long as I call her when we get in."
        "Okay, why don't we go get you packed," Emily said. The girls went
upstairs to pack, while Lucky and Nikolas talked quietly about the events
leading up to this. Neither one could quite believe that Stefan was
Nikolas' father. It was just to horrible for them to think about, but it
was horrible to each for different reasons. The conversation soon turned to
the matters at hand though.
        "How are we going to get rid of Emily's guard?" Nikolas asked.
        "I'm not sure. If we see his car, we might just be able to loose
him in traffic, but that might be taking too much of a chance and we may
not even be sure that we had lost him. It needs to be something really
good. Something that he won't see right through...I've got it!"
        "What?"
        "I'll tell you later, when we're in the car. It's sure to work."
        "What's sure to work?" Emily said as she and Liz came down the stairs.
        "Lucky's plan, but he won't tell us until we get in the car. Are
you guy's ready?"
        "We're all set," Lizzie said, handing Lucky her bag. She then went
into the kitchen to tell her grandmother goodbye. Nikolas took the bag from
Lucky and he and Emily went out to stow it in the car while Lucky waited
for Liz. Liz came out of the kitchen a minute later and the two of them
walked to the car. Liz had a guilty look on her face. "I feel so bad lying
to her," Liz said.
        "I know," Lucky said. "But I promise we'll call her as soon as
possible."
        Lizzie let out a sigh. "I know. I just hope that she forgives me."
Nikolas and Emily were waiting by the car.
        "Ready?" Nikolas asked.
        "Yeah," they said and the four of them got into the car and headed
towards the cabin.
        "Okay, do we get to hear this plan now?" Nikolas asked.
        "Sure," Lucky said. "First off, when we get to the cabin we bring
all the stuff inside to make it look like we just pulled a scheme in order
to get all of us alone out here without any parent knowing anything about
it." Then he outlined the rest of his plan for them and asked, "What do you
think?"
        "I think that it could work," Emily said. "But you guys have to
promise to be careful."
        "Of course," Lucky said, with a grin. "Aren't I always?"
        Emily gave a very unladylike snort. "Yeah right, working for Helena
is being careful. Getting involved with Damian Smith is careful. Following
your dad that night and getting shot is careful. You've gotta be the most
careful person I know."
        "Do I detect a hint of sarcasm there?" Lucky said. "Anyway I was
young back then. I never followed him like that again, now did I."
        "Wait a minute. You were shot?" Elizabeth said.
        "It was a long time ago. Not a big deal."
        "Yeah, right Lucky," Emily said. "You almost died. No big deal."
        "Let's drop it okay. I felt bad enough about it back then. I don't
want to go through it again."
        "Why did you feel bad about it?" Elizabeth asked as they pulled
into the driveway of the cabin.
        "I just said that I don't want to talk about it." Lucky said,
tensely turning the car off.
        "Lucky? Why did you feel bad about being shot?" Nikolas asked.
        Lucky sighed, "Cause my parents almost broke up over it okay. Are
ya happy?" Lucky got out of the car. He grabbed Elizabeth and Emily's bags
and headed for the cabin, leaving Lizzie and Nikolas staring after him in
shock.
