Sarah:(sweetly) Hi Lucky!

Lucky slowly lifted his head and smiled half-heartedly at her.

Lucky: Hi Sarah.

Sarah:(looking around) Where's Lizzie?

Lucky: Ruby sent her on an errand. She'll be back soon. Would you like something to eat?

Sarah smiled when she heard thet Liz wasn't there. *Perfect timing.*

Sarah:(shaking her head) No, thanks.....Actually, I came to talk to you.

Lucky raised his eyebrows curiously at her. *I hope this isn't abut the dance.*

Lucky: Oh yeah. What about?

Sarah sat down in a chair and motioned for Lucky to do the same. He did and Sarah began....

Sarah: Well, it's about you and Lizzie.

Lucky:(surprised) Me and Elizabeth? I don't understand.

Sarah: Well, you two have been spending alot of time together lately and I just want to make sure that you're not getting the
wrong idea.

Lucky:(confused) The wrong idea? What are you talking about Sarah?

Sarah: Well, I just don't want you to think that Lizzie really likes you.

Lucky was surprised by her comment. He didn't know what she was talking about.

Lucky: Look, Sarah, you don't know anything about me and Elizabeth and it's none of your business anyway.

Lucky began to get up, but Sarah grabbed his arm and pulled him back down.

Sarah: Lucky, I am doing this for your own good. Just listen.

Lucky didn't know what to think, but he decided to listen to her.

Lucky: Fine. What?

Sarah: Well, I uh..found Lizzie's diary and I read a little bit of it.

Lucky:(disgusted) You read her diary! Sarah, you know that's private! How could you?

Sarah:(remorsefully) I know Lucky. But it was just lying around unlocked. I was curious. I know it was wrong, but just hear me
out, please.

Lucky couldn't believe that she would betray Liz like that. He didn't want to hear anything Sarah had discovered in Liz's diary.

Lucky:(shaking his head) Forget it Sarah. I don't want to hear what you have to say.

Lucky stood up and began to walk away. Then he heard Sarah....

Sarah: Then I guess you don't care that Lizzie is only using you.

Lucky quickly turned around and glared at Sarah. *What is she talking about? Using me?...No way.* Lucky didn't believe her,
but wanted to know what she was talking about. He came and sat back down with her.

Lucky: Using me? What are you talking about?!

Sarah:(almost smiling) Lizzie is using you to make Nikolas jealous. She really likes Nikolas.

Lucky's head was suddenly spinning. *She doesn't like Nikolas. She can't. It's been so good between us. Sarah must just be
confused. She's not using me.* As much as Lucky wanted to believe that, the seed of doubt had been planted in his mind.

Lucky: That's not true, Sarah. She said he's nice, but not her type.

Sarah: Look, Lucky, I know you don't want to believe this because you really seem to like Lizzie now, but it's true.....It's all in
her diary.

Lucky: What is?

Sarah: Everything......How she asked you to go to the dance so that Nik would find out and get jealous--or so she hoped. How
she got him to go the dance with her, by using you as bait. How she danced with you just so Nikolas would see you guys
together. She even made sure he knew about you two spending the day together. I ran into Nikolas at the docks and he told me
that Lizzie called him to thank him for taking her to the dance and then mentioned that you two were spending the day
together...It's all there Lucky....She used you to get Nikolas jealous. She mentioned him so may times in the diary and how
much she liked him........I'm sorry, but it's true.

Lucky just sat there in shock. He couldn't believe that Liz would use him. He had trusted her and he believed that she geniunely
cared for him. He was in love with Liz....but now this. Sarah sounded so convincing.

Lucky: Why should I believe you?

Sarah: Think about it, Lucky. Why would I admit to reading my sister's diary if it wasn't true. I have nothing to gain. I don't like
doing this, but I don't want to see you get hurt.

Lucky nodded slowly. She was right--she had nothing to gain. *Could it be true? Could Liz just be using me to get to
Nikolas?* Lucky thought about how Liz had acted strangely around him sometimes. No matter how much he wanted to trust in
her, he was having his doubts. How couldn't he after what Sarah had said? Just then he looked up and saw Liz and Nikolas
talking outside. Liz was laughing and Nikolas was smiling. That was all it took. The seed of doubt grew and took root. He
believed Sarah. He was jumping to conclusions and he wasn't thinking straight. All he could think of was that what they had
shared was all a sham. His heart was breaking. He loved her and now he thought she never felt a thing for him. He didn't even
think to remember the moments they shared when Nikolas wasn't around and it wouldn't have mattered. He was heartbroken.
He watched as Liz said goodbye to Nikolas and came inside. Sarah discreetly stood in the background and then left without
being noticed. Lucky could feel the tears start to sting his eyes as Liz came towards him.

Liz: Hey Lucky! I'm back.

Lucky turned away from her. The pain was too much for him to take. Looking at her hurt him to much. Liz came up behind him.

Liz:(concerned) Lucky? Are you okay? Did something happen?

Liz placed a hand on his shoulder, but Lucky shook it off. He shook his head and kept his back turned. He couldn't face her
right now. He need to get out of there. He spoke softly, his voice cracking.....

Lucky: It's nothing...I..I just have to get out of here. Just leave me alone.

Liz was shocked. She didn't know why Lucky would shut her out like that. *Everything was going so great. What changed?
What did I do?*

Liz: Luck--

Before Liz could finish, Lucky had brushed by her and out the door. Liz just stood there. She was stunned and beginning to
think she'd just lost the best thing to ever happen to her. Lucky leaned up against the brick outside of Kelly's. The tears were
now streaming down his face. He placed his head in his hands. His mind was plagued by thoughts, but only one stuck
out------*I'll never be with Elizabeth.....I never was.*

Elizabeth slowly sank into a chair. Her tears were now falling down her face, but she didn't notice. She was too preoccupied
with the questions in her mind. *What happened?...Why is Lucky acting this way?.....I thought he was finally seeing me.....liking
me....I thought he cared for me. But now...now he's shutting me out...What did I do?......Or did he just realize that I'm not
someone he wants to be with....That getting close to me was something he didn't want.* Liz shook her head furiously, hoping
that she wasn't right. She didn't want to believe that Lucky had realized it was all a mistake. But the thoughts nagged her mind.

Lucky slowly lifted his head out of his hands and wiped at his eyes. *I have to get out of here....It's over between us.....If it ever
began.....Damn!...How could I have been such a fool?!.......How could I believe that she cared for me?!* Lucky shook his
head as his anger grew towards Elizabeth. *How could she treat me like this?!...Everything that happened between us meant
nothing to her?!...It was all just a game....I guess I never really did see the real Elizabeth.* Although Lucky was hurt and angry
at Elizabeth one thought kept entering his mind. *But I still love her....I'm still in love with her....and maybe I always will be.* He
tried to push that thought out of his head. *It doesn't matter what I feel.....All that matters is that Elizabeth feels nothing for
me....nothing.* Lucky lowered his head again as the tears came in full force. He began his walk home.

Elizabeth was still thinking when she heard Ruby calling her.

Ruby: Liz?! Liz, I'm talking to you!

Liz whipped her tearstained face up to face Ruby's.

Liz: Sorry, Ruby. What do you need?

Ruby:(eyeing her) Liz, are you okay? Did something happen?

Liz:(slowly shaking her head) No, I'm fine.

Ruby: Where did Lucky go?

At the mention of his name, Liz burst into tears again. She couldn't help it. She covered her face and ran out of the restaurant,
leaving a bewildered and concerned Ruby alone.

Liz stopped outside and then began to run. She needed to see Lucky. She needed to understand what had happened. She had
to find out if what she feared was true. She kept running until she got to the Spencer house. She slowly walked up to the door
and rang the doorbell....No answer. She rang it again.....No answer. She knew Lucky was there. She went and stood beneath
his window and yelled...

Liz:(pleadingly) Lucky, please. Please, open the door. I know your home. I just want to talk. I want to know what's wrong.

Liz kept on yelling. Lucky lay on his bed with hands over his eyes. He could hear her yells, but he couldn't bring himself to
answer her. He didn't think to wonder why she would come looking for him if she didn't care. He was too hurt to think
rationally. His heart was too broken to hear the desperation in Liz's voice.

Liz slowly stopped yelling, her voice becoming hoarse. This was her answer. He wouldn't talk to her, he was shutting her out.
He didn't want anything to do with her, she thought. Her heart broke at the silence that answered her back. She needed no
further proof. Lucky had realized that he could never feel anything real for her...never really care for her...never love her. She
knew it. She began her lonely walk home.

Two weeks past after that night. They both avoided each other at all costs. In school, they would pass by the other without so
much as a word. They each scheduled their hours at Ruby's to make sure they weren't working together. They cut each other
out of their lives, but not out of their hearts. Every day that passed they missed the other a little more. It didn't matter what they
thought or what they had found out...they still loved the other. They were miserable being apart. Liz would get up everyday and
go through the motions. Lucky did the same. Smiling and laughing were distant memories to them....They were things that they
had done together. They tried to forget the other, but couldn't. Liz consumed Lucky's mind and Lucky was all that Liz thought
about. Being apart...was tearing them apart inside.

One day, Liz was finishing up her shift at Ruby's.

Liz: Bye Ruby. I'm taking off.

Ruby: Bye, dear. Have a nice night.

Liz:(smiling weakly) You too, Ruby. See you tomorrow.

Liz removed her apron, grabbed her things and headed out the door. Lucky's shift was just beginning. He was about to enter
the restaurant when he bumped directly into Liz.

Lucky:(nervously) Oh...uh..I'm sorry, Liz.

Liz:(nodding) It's ok, Lucky.

They both moved to continue on their ways when Lucky was suddenly desperate to confront Liz about what happened. Liz had
turned her back and was walking away. Lucky barely even knew what he was saying before it came out....

Lucky:(coldly) Why did you do it, Liz?...Why?

Liz quickly turned around and faced Lucky. *So it was something that I did. But what?* She walked back to him and stood
right in front of him.

Liz: Do what, Lucky?...What did I do?

Lucky:(shaking his head) You still can't admit it, huh?.

Liz: Admit what, Lucky? I don't know what I did. Please, tell me.

Lucky was growing angry. He couldn't believe that she would still deny it.

Lucky:(harshly) That you used me! That you used me to make Nikolas jealous! That you never cared anything for me!

Liz was shocked by his words and the pain in his eyes as he said them. *So this is why he shut me out. He thought that. But
why? Why would he think that?*

Liz:(confused) Lucky, I didn't use you. I swear. I do care for you, not Nikolas.

Lucky: Save it, Liz. Sarah told me all of it. She said it was all in your diary.

Liz:(furious) My diary! She's lying Lucky! My diary doesn't mention anything about me liking Nikolas and using
you!.....(emotionally)...It only talks about you! About how I feel about you! I could show it to you if I had to!

Lucky was stunned. He knew she wasn't lying by the passion that she spoke with....by the look in her eyes. He could tell she
was telling the truth. She did care for him. That's what she had written about. Sarah had lied and he hated himself for doubting
Liz.

Lucky:(softly) Liz, I'm sorry. I..I don't know....I...was so hurt..I thought that it was all just a game..that it meant nothing. I'm
sorry I didn't trust you.

Liz was hurting. Lucky had believed Sarah and not her. If he didn't trust her then how could they be together?

Liz:(emotionally) Lucky you believed Sarah, not me. How can we have a realtionship if you don't trust me?

Lucky: I'm sorry. I do trust you, Elizabeth. ...I was stupid. Please, forgive me.

Liz:(tearfully) I...I..don't know, Lucky......Maybe we should just go back....back to the way things were before....when we
were just friends.

Liz said the words, but not really meaning them. She looked down and began to turn away, the tears falling down her face.
Lucky heard her words and panic swept over him. He thought he was going to lose her for real this time. His emotions took
over and he spoke what was in his heart. He wasn't thinking, he just started to speak...

Lucky:(emotionally) We can't go back, Elizabeth! We can't!

Elizabeth turned around again and spoke through her tears....

Liz: Why, Lucky?! Why can't we.

Lucky:(passionately) Because I love you, Elizabeth!....That's why!...I'm in love with you!

The words slipped out of Lucky's mouth without him realizing it, his emotions overtaking him. But he wouldn't take them
back....he couldn't. Elizabeth covered her mouth in shock.

Elizabeth was in absolute shock. Her mind was not processing any thoughts. His words echoed in her mind. One moment she
thought he didn't want anything to do with her, another she thought that they couldn't be more that friends and now....now she
knew he was in love with her. It was almost too much to take in. She stood there speechless.

Lucky looked at the shocked expression on Liz's face. *Maybe I shouldn't have said anything....I didn't really mean for it to
come out like that...but I thought I was losing her....I...I just reacted....Maybe she doesn't feel the same....But I don't regret it...I
feel this way about her and now she knows.* Lucky looked at Liz still standing there in shock. He came close to her and spoke
softly....

Lucky:(looking into her eyes) Elizabeth...Elizabeth, please, say something. Please.

Lucky's eyes seized Elizabeth's and they wouldn't let go. He was standing so close to her. She could feel his breath on her face.
She slowly tried to form a sentence. Something...anything to say....

Liz: You....you..lo..uh..me..are..uh..oh my...in lo...whoa.

Liz broke their gaze and backed away from him. She went and sat down at one of the tables. Lucky followed her and pulled his
chair up right next to her. She lowered her head. Lucky took her hands in his and lifted her chin.

Lucky:(softly) Liz, I..I know that this is probably a real shock for you...Hell, I'm shocked that it came out like that....But it's the
truth....It just is...I know it.

Liz listened to him and the emotion that was in his voice. She couldn't believe it.

Lucky:(lowering his head a little) I....I don't know if you..you feel the same..or..or anything close to it...But I couldn't help it,
Elizabeth...It came out...And I won't take it back.

Liz watched as he tried to explain everything. She began to emerge from her shocked state.

Liz: Lucky?

Lucky raised his head and his eyes met Elizabeth's. She smiled.

Lucky: Yeah?

Liz:(nervously) I...uh.....admit...admit that you shocked me...I mean really shocked me....But you have to know.....I want you to
know...that...that I feel the same...the same about you.

A smile spread across Lucky's face. *She feels the same?! Thank you. Thank you!* Now Lucky was a little speechless.....

Lucky: You...you do?

Liz:(smiling and nodding) Yeah, Lucky....I do.

Lucky: I....I don't know...I don't even know when it all really happened. Maybe it has been happening for a long time...without
me noticing....But all I know is that the time I've spent with you has been the best of my life...and the time I've spent without you
has been the worst...these last two weeks have been the worst of my life.

Liz:(smiling) Mine too. (suddenly remembering something) Lucky, I have to tell you something...something I did...I want to be
truthful with you.

Lucky swallowed hard and nodded.

Liz: When I told you Nik said he wanted to go to the dance...I lied. I had to call him and convince him to go....I was trying to
make you jealous....I was crushed when you decided that you didn't want to go to the dance with me......I had a crush on you
for months...I'm sorry.

Lucky:(smiling) It's okay, Elizabeth....I'm glad you told me....I'm sorry that I hurt you....I was so preoccupied with Sarah that
I.....I never saw what was right in front of me....That what I wanted was right in front of me.

Liz:(smiling) Yeah, well, maybe I didn't let you see anything you would like....I was pretty bratty.

Lucky:(smiling) I know...I know, but I like what I see now. I mean you're no regular girl...not by a long shot.

Liz:(laughing) Well, your pretty irregular yourself there, Spencer!

Lucky laughed and then their eyes locked.

Lucky:(emotionally) I..I need to say this......I never thought that I could feel this way about anyone....But then you came
along...or I finally noticed you.....It all happened so fast....I realized I liked you..and then...my feelings kept growing....it was
kind of scary, but it also felt so right...Us together felt so right....And I know we're young and I know we're just discovering
each other...But I know what I feel...I know what you make me feel....Being apart from you made me realize it even more....I
don't want to be away from you.....Elizabeth, I'm in love with you.

He said the words again to her. They seemed to come from him so naturally. He said them the way he had wanted to. He kept
their gaze and Liz spoke.

Liz:(smiling and with tears in her eyes) Lucky...Lucky, I've dreamt of you saying those words to me....I never thought it would
happen...I had a crush on you...a huge one...But it grew....it matured. The more time I spent with you....the more I realized that
what I felt wasn't just going to go away...That it was real...Everytime you touched me I would get shivers....It all felt so
right....Somewhere along the line I fell in love with you, Lucky.....Boy, did I fall.

Lucky smiled and his own eyes glistened with tears. He couldn't believed how good it felt to hear her say those words to him.
He needed to kiss her. He looked into her eyes and leaned in closer to her. He brushed some of her hair out her face and ran
his thumb along her jawline. Her eyes were smiling at him and he had never seen anything so beautiful. They moved closer until
their lips met in a kiss. It was soft and slow at first, but grew more passionate as all of their feelings for each other were
expressed in that kiss. They slowly parted and Lucky whispered breathlessly.....

Lucky: I love you, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth smiled and responded softly.......

Liz: I love you too, Lucky.

Lucky stood up and extended his hand to Liz. She accepted it and when she was standing, Lucky pulled her into his arms. She
lay her head against his chest, listening to his rhythmic heartbeat. He rested his head on top of hers and spoke quietly......

Lucky: You're so beautiful, Elizabeth.....Nothing has ever felt so right.....This is right....We are right.

Liz:(smiling) That's the way I feel....Dreams do come true, Lucky.....This is a dream come true.

Lucky: Yeah, it is. You are the kind of person I've always imagined myself growing old with......Now I've found you...I've never
been so sure of anything before in my life.....I trust you, Elizabeth....I trust you with my heart.

Elizabeth lifted her head and looked at Lucky. She smiled.

Liz:(grinning) I trust you with my heart, too....It's yours.

Lucky smiled and lowered his lips to hers. They kissed and with that promised themselves to each other forever. They were
meant to be. They had finally discovered the other and the love they shared....the deep connection they had....They were
soulmates. They were young, but they knew...It was right. They were right and nothing would ever separate them again.....They
say love conquers all....and for them it always would. Their love would withstand it all...and they would get through
anything....together.
