It's Only Make Believe...Right?
by Snowlock

What would happen if a huge General Hospital fan suddenly found themselves
trapped in the fictional town of Port Charles? With all the knowledge that
such a person would carry, they could stir up quite a bit of trouble for
the residents of said town. This is a story about just that.

Chapter One

"Come on," Samantha yelled at the person in front of her that had
just slammed on his breaks. "What's up with that? I have exactly ten
minutes to get home so I can watch General Hospital and you decide to stop
in the middle of the road?" She laid on her horn and was rewarded with an
obscene gesture, but at least the guy got moving. She hated the days when
she forgot to set the VCR. She had to be one of the biggest General
Hospital fans in the world. She was only seventeen but had already been
watching for years. She knew the whole history of the show and watched
every, single show, and taped most of them as well. She raced the rest of
the way home and ran into the house, going directly to the TV. She turned
it on and was relieved to see that the scenes from the last episode were
just starting. She flopped down on the couch and watched the hour show,
glued to the TV the entire time. She did her homework and went to bed
early, eagerly awaiting the next days show. Little did she know that the
show that she had just watched was the last one that she would see for a
very long time.

When Samantha awoke the next morning she had a terrible pain in her
head. She was freezing cold and instead of her bed, it felt as if she was
sleeping on the ground. She opened her eyes slowly and sat up in shock at
what she saw. Not only was she not in her bed, she wasn't in her house
either! She was outside, laying on the ground next to a stone bench. "What
the...?" she said softly to herself. "Wait a minute, that bench looks
awfully familiar." She looked around. She groaned. "This can not be
happening." She was looking off into the water that surrounded Spoon
Island. "What did I do, jump into my TV or something?" She put her hands to
her head and rubbed her temple's.

Samantha started as she heard a voice from behind her. "Can I help
you?"

She jumped to her feet and turned to face the person that had
addressed her. "Ah," she said to the young man standing in front of her.
"No, I...ah, I don't think that you can. I don't think that anybody could
help me right at this moment."

"What is your name?" He said, staring at her, perplexed by her
words. "I'm Nikolas Cassadine."

"Nikolas Cassadine? You have got to be kidding me!" She started to
feel her chest tighten and she fought for breath. "Nikolas Cassadine."

"Are you all right?" he asked concerned.

"Mmhm," Sam said. "I'm just, kind of hyperventilating. No big
deal." Nikolas rushed to her side and helped her to sit down on the bench.
"Thanks," She said. "Um, did you say, Nikolas Cassadine?"

Nikolas nodded. "You never told me your name."

"My name? Oh...yeah...well, my name...my name is Samantha. How do
you do?"

        "How did you get here?"

"I...uh, I don't know. I have absolutely no idea. The last thing I
remember was getting into bed last night. Bed," Samantha said relieved.
"That's it!"

        "What's it?" Nikolas asked confused.

"This has got to be a dream," she said getting to her feet. "That's
it. This is all just a dream and I think that it's about time for me to
wake up." She pinched herself hard on the arm. "Ouch!!!" She looked around
and nothing changed. "Okay, now I'm really freaked. If this is a dream, why
didn't I just wake up, unless..." The world began to spin and she slumped
towards the ground. Nikolas caught her as she fell. He scooped her into his
arms and carried her to Wyndemere. What a strange young woman this was,
Nikolas thought to himself. She seemed absolutely crazy. All that talk
about dreams and the fact that she had no idea how she had gotten to the
island. Well, even if she wasn't the most sane person that he had ever met,
she was certainly one of the most beautiful. Long, curly black hair, eyes
the color of midnight. He couldn't deny the fact that she intrigued him and
he couldn't help but wonder exactly what her story was.

He brought her into the living room and laid her down on the sofa.
He stood for a minute wondering what to do. He was about to go get his
uncle or Mrs. Landsbury, when Samantha began to come to. She opened her
eyes slowly and blinked a few times. "Where...where am I?"

"The living room of Wyndemere," Nikolas said.

"You mean that I'm still not awake? What's going on here?"

"You are awake. You're sitting here in my living room talking to
me. You're not sleeping, you're not out cold, you're awake."

"That's not possible. I can't be here. It goes against all logical
thought. Totally, utterly impossible."

"Why is it so impossible for you to believe? I'm here, you're here,
we're both living, breathing, human beings..."

"See, there's where we hit the snag," Samantha said, with an ironic
laugh. "I have to ask you this, though you're going to think I'm crazy.
That's all right though because I think I'm crazy. Anyway here goes. Are
you aware that you are a character on a soap opera? You're not real, you're
not alive, you're just a character played by an actor. That is reality.
That is the truth.  I mean, seriously, this is all just make believe."

Nikolas stared at her in disbelief. "You've got to be kidding! You
think that my entire life is just some sort of plot in a trashy TV show?"

"Hey, show some respect," Samantha said. "It's the best Soap Opera
on TV. But yeah, that just about sums it up."

"I...uh, I think that now would be a good time to take you to
General Hospital. Just...just stay here for a minute while I go speak with
my uncle." Nikolas turned and practically ran out of the room. She was a
complete loon!

"Uncle," Samantha said, shaking her head. "If you only knew." The
problem was that this whole situation was beginning to feel all to real to
her. "What am I thinking about? This isn't happening. I'm imagining all of
this." She looked around, dismayed. "I just wish that it didn't all seem so
real."

Chapter Two

Nikolas returned a few moments later with his 'uncle.' "Samantha,"
Nikolas said. "This is my uncle, Stefan Cassadine."

Samantha stared at the man before her. He was even more foreboding
in person. Dressed all in black, his face expressionless, he had always
seemed quite sinister to her. Seeing him up close didn't change her opinion
of him a bit. She was actually quite frightened of him. "Ah, how do you
do?" she said holding out her hand, but at the same time leaning
unconsciously away from him. Nikolas watched her reaction to his uncle with
surprise. She was scared of him! He couldn't help but wonder why she would
be so frightened of someone that she didn't even know.

        "I'm fine, Miss?"

"What? Oh, Lawrence, Samantha Lawrence." Sheesh, this guy was stiff!

"Miss Lawrence. My nephew informs me that you're a little confused
as to how you came to be on Spoon Island. I think that it would be in
you're best interest to go to General Hospital for an examination in order
to determine the cause of your amnesia. Would that be satisfactory to you?"

"Sure, and Stefan, you really don't have to sugar coat it for me. I
know that you both think that I'm loony. Don't worry, I understand. As a
matter of fact, I'm leaning that way myself, so let's just go."

"Ah, okay, Miss Lawrence," Stefan said, trying to shake the feeling
that he had met her before. "Shall we go?" They left Wyndemere and left
Spoon Island by the launch. They arrived at GH and were met in the waiting
room by Bobbie Spencer.

"Good morning, Barbara," Stefan said. "Nikolas found this young
lady on Spoon Island this morning. We would like for you to examine her to
make sure that she isn't injured in any way."

Bobbie had always been one of Samantha's favorite characters so she
felt like she already knew her. "Hey Bobbie," Samantha said. "What they
really want is for you to look for a bump on my head, which they can use to
explain my unusual behavior and my lack of knowledge as to how I arrived on
Spoon Island."

"You know each other?" Nikolas asked, surprised at the familiar way
Samantha addressed Bobbie.

"No," Bobbie said. "Not that I know of. Have we met?" She asked
Samantha. She *did* look a little familiar, but she couldn't explain why.

"No," Samantha said. "Not officially. I just feel like I know you.
I've been watching the show for years. You're one of my absolute favorite
characters."

Bobbie's eyes widened and she gave Stefan a questioning glance and
motioned him to the side. "What's going on?"

"I don't know, Barbara," Stefan said. "She seems to think that this
is all some TV show that she's suddenly trapped within. I can't explain it
and I'm worried. I think that this whole thing is getting to Nikolas."

While they were speaking, Nikolas turned to Samantha. "I want to
know how you knew to call Bobbie, Bobbie when she was only referred to as
Barbara in your presence. What do you want here?"

"Nothing and I resent the insinuation," Samantha said indignantly.
"Hey, I told you that this is a TV show. It's not my fault that you don't
believe me."

Bobbie went to speak with the doctor while Nikolas, Stefan and
Samantha waited in the waiting room. Bobbie returned a few minutes later.
"The doctor will see you now. Come with me."

Samantha got to her feet. "Which doctor is it? I hope it's Joe or
Karen. They seem so nice."

"Um, it's Karen," Bobbie said, thinking to herself, 'who is this girl?"

"Cool," Samantha said. She didn't get to watch Port Charles as
often as she watched GH. She had just never gotten into the habit of taping
it, so she missed a lot of the episodes. She really liked it though and Joe
and Karen were two of her favorite characters on the show.

They walked into the examining room where they were met by Karen
Wexler. "Good Morning," Karen said. "I'm Dr. Wexler. How are you doing
today, Samantha?"

"Oh, not so good, as you may have guessed. When I went to bed last
night everything was perfectly normal, and then I woke up this morning and
found that I had somehow been transported to Spoon Island. You can't
imagine my surprise. This is so different from home."

        "How so?"

"Well," Samantha said. "At home Port Charles is a fictional town
that exists in a soap opera called General Hospital. It's not real. All of
you are played by actors. None of this is actually happening. I mean, you
can imagine my confusion at being faced by people I watch every day on TV,
but that shouldn't exist outside my TV set."

"Excuse my skepticism, but that's not possible," Karen said.

"That's okay, it's understandable that you don't believe me. Could
you tell me exactly what's going on in town right now?

"Well the big trial just ended, and Stefan was acquitted." Bobbie said.

"Ah, the murder trial. Boy, are all of you in for a big surprise,"
Samantha said with a smile. Bobbie stared at her. "Sorry, keep going." It
seemed as though the real Port Charles, or wherever the heck she was, was
about a month behind the show.

        "Well, My sister-in-law..."

        "Laura," Samantha supplied helpfully.

"Ah, yes," Bobbie said. "Laura testified in his behalf."

"Which caused Luke to leave town," Samantha said nodding sadly. She
had hated it when Luke left. He was one of the best parts of GH and it just
didn't seem right for him to not be on the show, even if it was just for a
little while.

"Uh, he hasn't left town yet," Bobbie said amazed. How did she know
so much!?

"Wait, has the concert at Luke's happened yet? The one that
Luther's supposed to play at?"

"Um, no. That's tonight," Bobbie said. What was with this girl. No
one knew her, yet she seemed to know everything about everyone.

'It hasn't happened yet,' Samantha thought to herself. 'Renaldo's
still alive. Hmm. I wonder if I can affect what goes on here.' She was
silent for a long time thinking, and Karen used the silence to examine her.

"I don't see any signs of a head injury, but I think that we should
keep her overnight for observation," thinking to herself, 'in the psych
ward.' Karen left.

"Bobbie I can't stay here," Samantha said pleadingly. "Please, you
have to get me out of here. Please!"

"I can't do that Samantha. You'll have to stay here until we can
figure out what's going on." Bobbie turned to leave. Samantha searched her
mind, how could she get out of here! She must know something that could
help her get out of here. It suddenly came to her, and even though she
didn't like blackmail... "Bobbie, could you send Nikolas and Stefan in
here? I'd like to thank them for their hospitality."

Bobbie nodded and left the room. Nikolas and Stefan arrived shortly
after. "You wanted to see us?" Nikolas said.

"Yes, I wanted to say thank you for helping me," Samantha said.
"You're both very nice and you can't imagine how much I appreciate how you
treated me. Thank you both very much."

"You're welcome," Nikolas said, enraptured by the beautiful girl in
front of him. Even if she was a bit crazy, he couldn't help but feel like
there was something special about her. Little did he know that it was the
fact that she was telling the truth!

"Nikolas, could you do me a favor," Samantha said, smiling brightly
at him. Nikolas nodded. "If it wouldn't be much trouble, would you go get
me a drink? I'm really thirsty, but I don't feel like water."

"Sure," Nikolas said, turning to leave.

"Thanks," Samantha said. Nikolas left the room. Samantha turned to
face Stefan. "You have to get me out of here," Samantha said. "It's a
matter of life and death. Please!"

"I can't do that Samantha, the doctor has decided that you need to
be here, so this is where you'll be."

"I really hate to do this, Stefan, but you leave me no choice. I
have to get out of here. You have no idea what's at stake. I don't even
know if you'd care if you did know, but there is one thing that I know that
you care about beyond all other things. I hate blackmail. Can't you just
let me out so that we won't have to go through this?"

"I can't do that. You have to stay here!"

Samantha drew a deep breath. She had never liked Stefan, but he
*had* been kind to her, but she had to keep Renaldo from dying and stop the
ridiculous 'Jason leaving the mob without consequences' storyline from
happening. She had to! The sanity of all General Hospital fans depended on
her! "Stefan, either you get me the heck out of this hospital, or I tell
Nik the truth about who his father is. How do you think that he'd like
that...daddy?"

Stefan stared at her in surprise. "How did you...?"

"Does it really matter? I know! He might not believe me at first,
you know, the loony girl or the trusted uncle, but once I start dropping
all kinds of information that I shouldn't know, he might just change his
mind. Get me out of this hospital! If you do, I'll never mention it again.
Please!"

Stefan looked at the girl in front of him. 'Would she really?' He
couldn't take the chance. "All right, I'll get you out, but if you ever
mention this again..."

"Don't worry! I don't really want him to find out. He won't find
out from me, I just really, really need to get out of here!"

"Okay," Stefan said. "I'll go and make sure that they release you,
but just remember, I'll be watching you!" He left the room. Samantha sat
and thought about the conversation that they had just had. 'I hope that I
never have to do that again. Blackmail makes you feel so...dirty. God knows
that I have enough info to do it though. Geez, the things I know about
these people!' She realized what she was thinking. 'Uh oh, I'm starting to
talk as though this is actually real! What if I really am crazy?' She
though a while longer. 'Does it really matter? I mean, I love this show!
Here I have the opportunity to be in it, maybe even affect what happens.
Why am I worried about my sanity? I should just enjoy myself and hope for
the best.'

Chapter Three

Nikolas returned with a drink for Samantha right before Stefan
returned with word that she had been released. "I thought that they wanted
to keep her for observation," Nikolas said, curious.

"They did, but I decided that she really didn't need to be here so
I asked them to release her into my custody with the promise that she'd
return for further tests."

"I told him of my fear of hospitals so he got me out," Samantha
said, smiling at Nikolas. "Isn't that nice of him?" (Manipulative, isn't
she:-)

"Yes, it is," Nikolas said. He couldn't help but wonder at his
uncle's motive's but he decided to keep his thoughts to himself. "Let's go
then," he said.

They got up and left the examining room. Samantha fell into step
beside Nikolas and asked him casually, "are you still going to Luther's
concert at Luke's tonight?"

"Yes, I'm still going. Would you like to go with me?"

"I'd love to," Samantha said. "I mean Luther won't show up, but
Ned's going to sing. It'll be great!"

"What do you mean Luther won't show up? Robin and Brenda are giving
him a big break. He would be foolish to miss it!"

"Hey, believe what you want. You'll see." She was beginning to feel
a little upset that everyone was doubting her all the time. She knew that
her story was way out there, but it *was* the truth. She sped up and
continued the rest of the walk out of the hospital a few steps ahead of
Nikolas. Nikolas watched as she drew ahead of him. She seemed so sad! She
told these crazy stories as if she expected you to believe them, knowing
full well that they were completely unbelievable! She was the most
confusing person that he had ever met! He liked her though. Even when she
was telling him the most unbelievable things, she was so sincere that he
knew that she believed them, and that she wanted him to believe her. He
wanted to believe her, but he just couldn't! They reached the car and
headed back to Wyndemere. Samantha looked down at herself. She had on
shorts and a T-shirt both of which were streaked with mud. "Hmm," she said
softly to herself. "I wonder if my bank can wire money to la-la land!"

Nikolas looked at her. "You don't have any money?"

"Nope," Samantha said. "And I don't have any cloths either. I could
try calling my bank, but somehow, I don't think that that would work."

        "Why not?"

"Because, see, my bank's in reality, and this, most definitely, is
not reality."

"Oh," Nikolas said. They were back to that again, but she couldn't
go without cloths and they had plenty of money. He had come to trust that
she wasn't trying to swindle them so he said, "Uncle, why don't I drop you
at the launch and take Samantha shopping. Is that all right with you?"

Stefan sighed. He could tell that Nikolas was beginning to be
sucked into her story. The bad thing was that he wasn't very far behind
him. How else could she have known? "That would be fine Nikolas. Keep an
eye on her." Nikolas nodded, and Samantha decided to ignore his last
comment. She didn't think that she'd really mind having Nikolas keep an eye
on her. It might even be kind of interesting:-)

They dropped Stefan at the launch and went shopping. Samantha tried
to keep the buying to a minimum but being the chivalrous person that he
was, Nikolas insisted on buying all she needed and more. She ended up with
all the necessities, (Jeans, t-shirts, etc.) as well as some nice outfits.
(Hey, Nikolas was hoping for some dates here, well after the whole mental
illness thingy was cleared up, so he wanted her to have some nice outfits,
for future dates, not to mention the one that they were kind of going on
that night.)

When they were done shopping they put their purchases in the car.
When they were done, Samantha turned to Nikolas. "You're a really sweet
guy," she said reaching out to touch his cheek. "And I really appreciate
all that you're doing for me." She turned her back to him. "I know that you
think that I'm crazy. I, myself, don't find that assessment way off base. I
just want you to know that I *am* telling the truth, as far as I can see."
She turned and looked him straight in the eyes. "I...I just hope that
you'll keep an open mind and take what I say into consideration. It's
*very* important that someone listens to what I have to say. A lot of lives
could depend on it. Just promise me that you'll try. Please."

Nikolas could see that she believed every word that she had just
said, and his cheek still tingled from her touch. He *wanted* to believe
her, but what she said defied logic. He could however, promise to keep an
open mind. "I will take what you say into consideration. Even though I
can't make myself believe what you're telling me, I *can* tell that you
believe every word of it, and that is why I won't dismiss it."

"Thank you!" Samantha said, unable to resist giving him a hug. He
returned the hug and wished that he could believe her. He wanted to get to
know her without the fear that she had totally lost touch with reality, or,
if what she said was true, he hoped that she *would* totally loose touch
with reality:-) (Hmm, did anyone get that, or am I funny only to myself?)

They got into the car and drove back to the launch. Before long
they were back at Wyndemere. Nikolas showed her to a room that she could
use and then left her so that she could take a shower and nap, which she
did with great pleasure. When it was  time to go to the concert at Luke's,
Samantha met Nikolas in the living room. They headed out to the concert.
They got there on time and walked into the club. They passed by Luke,
neither one noticing him, but he glared at Nikolas, (like usual) as he went
by. Samantha was feeling a little nervous about what she had to do, so she
excused herself to go to the ladies room. Nikolas said that he was going to
go say hi to Robin and that he'd wait for her over there. Samantha nodded
and headed for the bathroom. She went in and walked over to the sinks, and
stared at herself in the mirror. "Relax," she said to her reflection. "You
can do this. Everything will be okay. You can make them listen! You *will*
save Renaldo." She took a deep breath. "Okay, I can do this." She walked
out of the restroom to go meet Nikolas...and ran directly into Luke
Spencer. "Oh, I'm sorry," she gasped.

"That's okay little lady," Luke said. He looked at her more
closely. "Hey, aren't you the girl that came in here with Cassadine?"

Samantha nodded hesitantly, knowing where this was headed.

"Watch out for that Demon Spawn. He may look like a kitten, but he
has the bite of a lion." Luke turned to leave.

Samantha was tired of his attitude towards Nikolas. Stefan, she
could understand, but Nikolas was nothing like the rest of his family. He
was a truly nice guy. She decided that it was about time that someone gave
him a talking to. "Luke Spencer!" Luke turned to face her, surprised that
she knew who he was. "What's the big idea calling Nikolas demon spawn? In
case you didn't realize it, he's *Laura's* son! Doesn't that mean anything
to you?"

"Now you just wait a minute..." Luke said.

"No, you wait just a minute! Sure, I understand that the whole
Stefan thing has you a little freaked out, I mean I don't care for him that
much myself. The point is that if you look at Nikolas closely, I guarantee
that you see a lot of Laura there." Luke started to speak again, but
Samantha held up her hand. "I'm not finished. Back to Stefan...DON'T BE AN
IDIOT!!! Laura doesn't love Stefan, she loves you! Next time you talk to
her, listen to her! Sure they had an affair on the island, sure Nikolas is
the result of that affair, but you have to remember that she was trapped
there. You were dead, she was beaten by Stavros and tortured by Helena.
Stefan was nice to her. That's all there was to it. Get over it and forgive
her like she's forgiven you! If you leave, you may just lose her and god
knows that you don't want that to happen. Talk to her. Work it out. Don't
run like a coward and give Laura away. She means to much to you for that!
Be smart. That's all I have to say, I just hope that you listened!"

Luke stared at her unable to believe what he had just heard. How
did she know so much about the most private things in his life? "Can I talk
now?" he asked slowly. Samantha nodded. "How? How do you know so much about
me?"

"You don't want to know," Samantha said. "And you wouldn't believe
me if I told you. Just think about what I said. I promise, you'll be happy
that you did." Samantha turned and left to go find Nikolas. Luke stared
after her before turning and going into his office. He had a lot of
thinking to do.

*MEANWHILE NIKOLAS HAD BEEN TALKING TO ROBIN*

        "You're kidding!" Nikolas said. "Luther's missing? I don't  believe
it!"

"You're telling me," Robin said. "We set this whole thing up and
then he doesn't even show. Brenda tried to get a hold of him, but she
couldn't find him anywhere. Thank god that Ned was here," she said
motioning to the man who was up on the stage singing. "If he hadn't been
here...Nikolas are you listening to me?"

Nikolas had been staring off into space, but he returned his
attention to Robin. "I'm sorry Robin, it's just the strangest thing."

"What's the strangest thing?" Samantha asked from behind him.

"Samantha!" he said turning to face her. "Luther didn't show, and
Ned's taking over for him." Samantha nodded but she didn't say anything.
They looked at each other for a while. Nikolas noticed that Robin was
looking at Samantha with a strange look on her face. "Oh, Robin, this is
Samantha. I found her this morning on Spoon Island. She doesn't know how
she got there, but..."

"But I seem to know a lot of things that I shouldn't," Samantha
said, feeling that it wasn't necessary for *everyone* in town to think that
she was crazy. "I, kind of, had this feeling that Luther wouldn't show. I
also had a feeling that Ned would take over and that everything would turn
out all right."

Robin stared at Samantha in disbelief. "Look," Samantha said. "I
know it sounds crazy, but it's the truth. I mean, you're Robin Scorpio.
You've had two great loves in your life, Stone and now Jason. You're scared
because of what Jason does but you want to be with him anyway because you
love him *so* much and you don't want to waste any of the time you could
have with him just because you're scared of what might happen."

"Amazing," she said. "So you know a lot about me. That doesn't mean
anything. What else do you think you 'know'?"

"If you don't keep Renaldo and Jason out of your car tonight,
someone's going to die, and since I just told you this, I'm not sure who it
will be anymore."

Robin gasped, "You're kidding right? This is all some horrible
joke. Please tell me that this is all some horrible joke."

"I'm not kidding, Robin. There's a bomb in the car. Moreno planted
it. If things had gone the way they were meant to, if I weren't here
tonight, Renaldo would die in that car, and you would barely escape with
your life. Don't let Renaldo get in that car Robin or someone will die."

        "Nikolas is she for real?"

"She knew about Luther, Robin. I don't know, her story's crazy, but
she has this unnerving accuracy. I don't know what to tell you, but isn't
it better to be cautious? What if she's right?" The concert ended and
people started to leave.

'This is taking to much time,' Samantha thought to herself. She
looked around and saw Jason and Renaldo talking and then Renaldo heading
for the door. "There's no time to argue," Samantha said. "He's going to the
car now. We have to stop this from happening." Robin turned and saw Jason
motion to her and head for the door once he saw that she noticed him.

"I don't think he'll believe this anyway. He doesn't believe in
things like this."

"Oh, I'll make him believe," Samantha said. She turned and headed
out of the club, dodging around people, trying desperately to catch up with
Jason. Robin and Nikolas followed her but they fell behind. Samantha raced
out of the door and saw Jason standing with his back to her, but Renaldo
was nowhere to be seen. "Jason!" she said. "Jason Morgan!"

Jason turned to look at her. "Yes, do I know you."

"No," Samantha said. "But I know you. I have to tell you something.
Get Renaldo out of that car before he starts it."

        "What?" Jason said.

"Get Renaldo out of the car. It's going to blow up. Moreno planted
a bomb in the car."

        "How would you know that?"

"The same way that I know that AJ's really Michael's father." Jason
stared at her in shock. "Get Renaldo out of the car!"

Jason turned and ran to the car. He told Renaldo to get out of the
car and talked quickly to him. They hurried away from the car and rejoined
Samantha. (I'm not sure if the bomb was triggered by the starting of the
car or if it was on a timer, but in this it was a timer) They had just
gotten a safe distance away when the car blew up. Jason had listened to her
and had gotten Renaldo out of the car, but he really hadn't believe that
she was telling the truth. Robin and Nikolas ran out of the club just as
the car exploded. They stared at the burned out shell of the car in shock.
Samantha couldn't resist. "I told you so," she said simply. "Aren't you
glad that you listened to me?" All they could do was stare at her,
speechless with disbelief.

Chapter Four

Samantha began to get a little nervous as everyone continued to
stare at her unmoving. "Would somebody please say something?" she begged.

"How did...How did you know...Everything that you knew?" Jason asked.

"Can we just say that I have amazing intuition and leave it at
that?" Samantha asked hopefully. Jason just shook his head. "I didn't think
so. Let me think for a minute on how to explain this." She looked at
Nikolas for help, but all that he could do was shrug. He had no idea what
to tell her. "Well, let's just say that I know a lot about you, and well,
everyone else in this town. The how, well that's where we hit a problem.
There's no way that you're going to believe how I know."

        "Just tell us," Robin said.

"Well, in my reality, this is all a TV show, a Soap Opera actually.
I know all this stuff because it's my favorite show, and I watch it
religiously. It's the best show, but as far as I'm concerned, you're all
imaginary. This isn't real!"

"You're kidding!" Robin said. "You can't be serious."

"I'm completely serious. I know that it defies logic, but I woke up
on Spoon Island this morning with no idea how I got there. All I know is
that I've been watching you people on television for years, and that I know
a lot about you, and that it was the strangest thing in the world to
suddenly wake up in one of the places that I had seen so often, and to find
myself face to face with someone that I had only seen on TV. Well, lets
just say that I decided that I was dreaming, but since I haven't  woken up
yet, I'm kind of beginning to think that this may be real and that I'm
completely crazy. That doesn't mean that I am crazy, cause see, I do know
things. Things that I shouldn't know, and couldn't know just through
research. I can't explain this any other way. What I've said is the truth,
whether you believe me or not."

"What else do you know? I mean, you could have found out about the
car bomb from Moreno. How do we know that you aren't working for him?"

"Ask Jason. I don't think either of you would like me saying the
other thing I know about you guys out loud with all these people around,"
she said nodding to the huge crowd that had just surrounded them. Jason
noticed the way that Mac was looking at him and Robin and decided that now
wasn't a good time to get to the bottom of what had just happened.

        "Look...whatever your name is."

        "Samantha."

"Look Samantha, there are a lot of things that we need to
discuss...about this whole thing, but right now, I have to deal with the
PCPD..."

"And a very unhappy police commissioner that just saw the car that
his niece was supposed to get into blow up." Samantha said, noticing Mac
herself.

"Ah, yeah," Jason said, giving her a wary look. "So, if you
wouldn't mind, I'd like to discuss this another time."

"You're not going to put a hit out on me are you?" Samantha asked.

"No," Jason said, looking at her like she was crazy to even suggest
it.

'Mob boss, ha!' Samantha thought to herself, but decided not to
push her luck. "That's good to hear. Yeah, if you want to talk to me, I'll
be around. Nikolas will know where to find me. I'll talk to you later. I,
for one, don't want to end up questioned by the PCPD. I mean, that Taggert
is such a jerk, I'd probably end up locked up. It's been real...or make
believe, depending on how you look at it. See you later!"

"Yeah," Nikolas said. "I'll see you later Robin, Jason."

"Bye Nikolas," Robin said. Jason just nodded in Nikolas' direction.
Samantha and Nikolas walked off, and Robin and Jason stared after them.
Robin looked at Jason, "You don't think that she's with Moreno?"

"She knew about Michael, Robin. There are only four people in the
world that know about that, well I guess five, now. So how do you suppose
that she found out about it?"

"Maybe she was in Ferncliff with Carly," Robin said pointedly.

"Then how do we explain her knowing about the car bomb? It doesn't
add up either way Robin. I really think that we need to talk to her more.
She saved us, Robin. Who knows who would have been in that car if she
hadn't come. We all could have been killed."

Renaldo had managed to keep Mac away from Jason and Robin until
then, but he finally broke through. "Robin, are you all right?"

"I'm fine, Uncle Mac," Robin said. "I wasn't anywhere near the
car..." Robin went on reassuring Mac as Jason was questioned by Taggert.
Well, you know as well as I do how *those* scene's go:-)

*BACK TO NIKOLAS AND SAMANTHA*

Samantha and Nikolas walked to Nikolas' car in silence, both lost
in though about what had just happened. When they reached the car Nikolas
turned to Samantha, his amazement at what had just happened burning in his
eyes. "I still can't believe that that actually happened!"

"I can't believe that everyone in this town thinks that I'm crazy.
Of course, I tell them things that I shouldn't know, and the reason that I
give for knowing it defies reason, so I guess that I can't blame them."

"But you *were* right about everything. I mean, doesn't that add
weight to your story?" Nikolas asked. 'It does for *me*.' he thought to
himself.

"One doesn't prove the other," Samantha said. "I could have said
that I knew any number of ways. Just because I say that I knew it because I
saw it on TV doesn't mean that people will believe me. They'll look for a
more logical explanation, like I know Luther or I'm working for Moreno.
There have to be millions of more plausible explanations for what I know.
The fact that I'm from a place where all this is a soap opera, well that
just strikes people as crazy. I know that. That's why I accept it, but it
isn't something that makes me feel good."

Nikolas listened to the way that she laid the whole thing out
logically, and found that he believed her story for the first time. She
knew how crazy her story sounded and she knew that she could have come up
with explanations that made a lot more sense then the one she gave, yet she
stuck with her story. That made him believe what she was saying. He
couldn't come to grips with the idea at the moment, but he could support
her, and make her feel a little better. "Samantha, I do believe that
something's going on her that's unexplainable. I believe that what you say
is the truth, even though I can't comprehend exactly what it is that
happened. I can't believe that my entire world is a soap opera, but I
believe you at the same time, and I don't think that you're crazy. Does
that make any sense?"

Samantha looked at him with tears shining in her eyes. "That make
perfect sense," she said happily. "Thank you for believing that I'm telling
the truth. Thank you so much." Nikolas couldn't resist pulling her into his
arms for a hug. He had never made someone so happy, just by saying that he
believed in them before. He liked the feeling. He liked the fact that he
could make her happy.

Samantha rested her head on Nikolas' strong chest. It felt so nice
that to have someone believe her, and it felt so nice to be held. 'Uh oh,'
she thought to herself. 'Is it really a good idea to fall for a character
in a TV show? Even if he *is* holding you in his arms? Even if he doesn't
know that he's a character in a TV show? Even if you may never return to
the real world again?' She pulled away from Nikolas slowly, not really
wanted to separate from him. She looked up at him and stared into his eyes.
'Even if he is sweet, and kind and, well... incredibly hot!!!' She turned
and got into the car. She had a lot of thinking to do before she could even
consider throwing herself at him and begging him to kiss her:-) Nikolas
watched as she got into the car, wondering why she had pulled away. He
decided not to push her and that he had time to find out just what she had
been thinking about. He got in the car and they drove to Wyndemere.

*BG'S OFFICE*

The head writer for GH sat in his office staring into space. He
couldn't believe what he had just seen! He hadn't approved that script! Who
was this Samantha person anyway and how did she know so much about the
people in the town? Who had started this story? Who had taken it upon
themselves to change the script? He had people out talking to the cast and
the crew as well as the writers to find out what was going on. He just
couldn't understand this whole thing!

There was a knock on the door and one of the people that was
investigating this whole situation walked into the room. "We talked to
everyone," he said. "None of the writers admit to having written that
scene, and none of the actors remember ever working with that girl. Not
only that, the producer says that they never taped that scene any other way
but the way you approved. No one has the slightest clue what's going on!"

Guza rubbed his temple's. He had a killer headache.  "What am I
going to do now? Renaldo's alive, and Luke looked like he was planning on
sticking around."

"Well, the guy that plays Renaldo says that the show he was going
to do fell through, so he can stay on the show after all." Guza looked at
him in surprise. "Not only that, but Tony Geary called and said that he was
coming back early, and that he could be in scene's for next weeks shows."

Well, that solves those problems, but there's still this girl
running around that's spouting off information that a character on the show
would have no way of knowing, saying that she watched the show on TV!
What's going on!?!?"

The other man shrugged with a puzzled look on his face. "I don't
know, boss."

"You don't know? Well that's okay, because I really didn't expect
you to know. Could you leave now? I have some work to do!" The man left and
Guza sat down to work on a story that could somehow explain the presence of
this Samantha!
